ReplyDeletePosting on FB, and am following :o)
My favorite tradition started about 18 years ago, when my oldest was just a tot. I made a Christmas elf and told her it was reporting back to Santa, who was naughty and nice. I moved it randomly to give her a sense of being watched. Now my twins are 10 and Em is 20 and they still love the elf. I know there are many story books and little "made in china" elves designed to the same thing, now, but when I started this tradition, I made it myself and my kids love it. I hope some day my Grandkids will be looking for that little tattle tail elf around my house!
ReplyDeleteHi- I'm following your blog, and I listed your contest on my blog with a link back here.
ReplyDeleteMy mother started our family tradition my first Christmas. We always open one present on Christmas Eve. That present is red pajamas. I did it with my children and now my children do it with their children. Everyone gets red pjs on Christmas Eve. Since my mother has passed away, my daughter or son give me the pajamas. It's a tradition that's been carried on for 64 years this year.
We also tell the little children in the family about Black Peter every Christmas. This is a Dutch tradition handed down to my husband by his Dutch step-mother when he was small. Black Peter, a companion to Saint Nicholas, rides a horse and puts bad children in his sack and takes them away.
My favorite family tradition is to exchange homemade gifts with my sisters and my other favorite is to have breakfast with my children and grandchildren before opening gifts. Prim Blessings! Robin
ReplyDeleteWe go to our Christmas Eve service then come home for homemake Tourtiere. A French Canadian meat pie. Open pressies in the morning while enjoying sticky buns!
ReplyDelete(if possible, I would like anything but the Santa..we don't do Santa in our home)

Hi: I have been a follower of this blog and will become a follower on FB.
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite Christmas memory is when we would go to midnight mass...seeing all of the lighted trees and the Holy family with baby Jesus finally in the manger, in church, was always so magical to me as a small child.
Love all the wonderful creations here on PFATT. patti ;)
Time spent with loved ones visiting and eating a wonderful meal together .. ..A tradition that will always be done in our home is the homemade candy and cookies we always make to be shared with neighbors and friends ..Baking those iced christmas cookies and decorating them with the kiddo's while sipping on hot cocoa and listening to christmas music.
ReplyDeleteI am now a follower of your blog and posted the banner on my blog.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!!!
Coming from a small family with limited income, we stopped buying gifts for each other years ago. Instead we buy ourselves a present and keep a secret from everyone. We wrap them up and take turns opening them in front of everyone else on Christmas Eve while sharing the story of why we chose that gift. It can be as small or as big as you want. My uncle always gives himself twizzlers and cashews..forbidden foods on his diet and my mother treats herself to the latest "as seen on tv" gadget.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower and posting your banner on my blog as well. Thanks.
I would be honored to have any of these wonderful creations in our home for this holiday season and years to come.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the generous opportunity.
Blessings,Pea
What a wonderful time of year for a give-away!
ReplyDeleteI think that my favorite Christmas tradition is one that's relatively new. We have decided that no matter how busy we are, that we take time to spend Christmas Eve at home with popcorn and a movie, warm snuggly throws, and hot chocolate.
That comes at the top of the list, right before the tradition of gifting only hand-made, which sometimes slips a little when the kids ask for video games, lol.

Wow, great giveaway! Count me in.
ReplyDeleteI have so many wonderful memories and traditions at Christmastime. My mother was and still is the "queen" of holiday cheer. My favorite memories are the tree trimming times. We would all listen to Chrismas music and decorate the tree. Once the ornaments were done, mom would kick us out of the room. It was time for tinsel...and that was here job....she was a "professional" and would gentle place tinsel on the tree, one piece at a time. We could here her sing from the other room. And then we all shut the lights off and sit around the tree lights with our tea or hot chocolate and talked about how gorgeous this tree waas over last years.
btw....I am a follower :)
ReplyDeleteAll of my family gets together for a big Christmas Eve gift exchange. This year, we are going to mix things up a bit and have a grab bag exchange. Thanks for a great giveaway!!'

ReplyDeleteOn Christmas Eve we would always come home after a hectic day of visting realitives and our girls would pick out a movie to watch acompanied with popcorn and relax until it was their bedtime.
Our girls are now in their twenties still come to the house and we watch the same old Christmas movies together like we've never seen them before sometimes it's the small things that gives of such comfort, meaning and ground us in the busy lives no matter how old we get.
Many Blessing to all,
Sarah
Wow all these bautiful creations, would I be happy to win something like this, of course I would! I am from Germany and we have a lot of traditions. Our Tree will be decorated on Christmas Eve and will stay up for 12 days until 6th January, this is a holiday for the Holy Three Kings. We open our presents on Christmas Eve and than we have the 25th and 26th of December to celebrate and just be with family. Santa Claus or Nickolaus, as we know him in my country is coming on 5th and 6th December and handing out small goodies to the children. We do celebrate Advent, 4 Sundays before Christmas we will light one candle each and in all the big towns and cities the beautiful Christmas Markets will open with Lebkuchen (Gingerbread) and Gluewein (mulled wine)filled air. This is truely a magical time and growing up over there presented me with many good memories. Merry Christmas everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis is always so fun! Love the gifts!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory is just watching the kids get so excited. It's fun when they still beleive too. We always stay home for Christmas and play with the new toys
ReplyDeleteI've started my own tradition of making homemade hard candy just like my Mamaw did years ago in the mountains. Although her recipes were made with readily available flavorings like sassafrass, molasses, honey, and wintergreen, I've armed myself this year with some exotic flavors like pomegranate, pineapple and pina colada. And yes, my kids are already asking, "When is it candy making time, Mom?" Actually, they are pestering me to death! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful goodies to be given away by these creative and artistic artists !
ReplyDeleteI have joined your blog, and am going to post your giveaway on my blog

ReplyDeleteI have two family traditions for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOne is for all the girls in my family and my grandson to get together to make decorated sugar cookies.
The other is for my family to come to my house on Christmas Eve and enjoy a big supper. Then we unwrap presents from our exchange. Santa has come for a quick visit too!

ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to all!!
Judy
Our favorite tradition is the stockings. My mom would fill ours full on Christmas Eve and now that we are much much older she still fills all of them, all of my siblings 5 in all AND one for each of the 10 grand kids. She doesn't have a mantel big enough for 15 stockings so she hangs them on spindles in the kitchen so it it the first thing we see when we go to their house for Christmas, it just wouldn't be the same with out the stockings!!
ReplyDeleteI already follow you on face book and I'll post in my side bar!!!
Thanks so much, it is all so nice!!
I love the homemade cinnamon rolls my mother made every Christmas morning. I now make them for my own children, but they love Grandma's the best (so do I).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful giveaways.
My favorite tradition is the making of the tree topper. Every year we make a new one & each year they get sillier & sillier. One year it was made of old 40 watt light bulbs the kids painted and glued to a styrofoam ball. Another year it was made out of a moon shaped pasta strainer - we added a prim clay face some grunged ribbons & lace & he was awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love the holidays and must confess that Christmas is my favorite. My favorite family tradition is to get together a week before Christmas to go shopping together and then come back to the house for homemade chili, cinnamon rolls and game time.
